Workshop on The Bible in the Legacy and Memory of the Great War

The third and final workshop of The Book and the Sword: The Bible in the Experience and Legacy of the Great War began today in St John's College, Cambridge.The workshop will examine whether and to what degree the Bible informed perceptions and memories of the war, and whether the war changed the Bible. Papers will address subjects such as Jesus in American and German cinema, Stanley Spencer's Resurrection paintings, the remembrance of the Maccabees, biblical theology in Eastern Orthodoxy, and the Bible in the Fellowship of Reconciliation.
